Musical Theater Workshop Program Description
The activities in this workshop are exclusively geared toward developing a live musical theater performance at every stage of production. In addition to working on musical theater skills like singing, dancing, and creating stage characters, students will also have a chance to flex their creativity in devising the show’s script. Each session, students will begin by learning a range of classic and contemporary musical theater songs and then through creative writing prompts and improvisation games, create their own unique musical. A full blown production, with students creatively involved in every phase, is mounted in just nine days. The highlight of the camp – the performance – takes place on the final Friday of each session, followed by clean-up and celebration. It is strongly recommended that campers are present for all days of their registered session(s).
