Session 1

Block B: 1:30-2:30 (Full Day Fours Only)

Circus Circus! (Nora Woolley) Ever wonder what it would be like to join the circus?  Think of how many roles you could play! Everyone will have a chance to perform an incredible acrobatic act, invent a magic trick, discover their clown within, try on their ringleader hat, and even take turns training a lion!  The final class will conclude with a spectacular circus performance extravaganza…plus popcorn for our friends!

Tea Time (Laura Araman) Do you love having tea parties? Together we will make some tea to drink and finger sandwiches to munch on. But first, we will create a fancy accessory (crown, hat, wings, etc), and decorate our own plates and cups to get ready for the party!  Campers will be working collaboratively, following through with their own designs, and trying new things.

Horses and Ponies! (Clara Campos) In this class we will learn all we can about horses and ponies! We will do art projects, read stories, play games, and do research to answer all of our equine questions.

Smash It! (Norah Roderick) Each day we’ll choose some objects to smash! It could be a tower of blocks, a mystery box, a stuffed animal, or even a cream pie! We might get messy, and we’ll definitely be using our muscles and brains together. Can you use your hands to smash it, or do you need a tool? How can we be safe when smashing things? These are all ideas we’ll explore while having fun seeing what we can smash!

Session 3

Block B: 1:30-2:30: (Full Day Fours Only)

Juice It! (Norah Roderick) Did you know that you can get juice from just about any raw food? Let’s try to juice all kinds of things: apples, oranges, bananas, kale, grapes, zucchini, carrots, and more! Each day campers can create their own custom juice blend from the fruits and vegetables we have juiced.

Feathered Friends of NYC (Sara Janoff) Campers are invited to learn about New York City’s most notable feathered friends through literature, play, and nature experiences. We’ll begin our investigation with the pigeon through the popular book series by Mo Willems. From there we’ll move on to learn some bird sounds and even create some of our own! Campers will discover how birds build their nests and experiment with different materials to create their own. We’ll examine different kinds of bird eggs and feathers, as well as what wild birds like to eat. Campers will design and create their own bird feeders. Our time together culminates in a “meet and greet” with birds from Wild Bird Fund. Let’s gain a new appreciation for urban wildlife!
